International Thespian Society (Troupe 5787)

Meeting Times:  Meetings once a month; more frequently during productions
Dues: $31 initial dues upon accruing 10 points; $10 per year after initiation year to maintain membership
Criteria: Students must earn 10 points (1 point = 10 hours of excellent work in Woodson Theatre) to be eligible for membership.  Anyone may become an apprentice and earn points by participating in the after school productions.
Purpose:  To maintain the standard of excellence in theatre at Woodson HS and to provide quality productions as part of an International organization.  Apprentices and members have the opportunity to attend special workshops and the Virginia State Thespian Conference.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.)

Purpose:  To help students make positive decisions about challenges in their everyday lives.  A major activity, usually done in conjunction with Homecoming, is "Day of the Dead" in which SADD promotes awareness of the deadly consequences of drunk driving.

W.T. Mentors

Criteria: Must commit to working at your school from October until May
Purpose: Mentors is a group of students who assist elementary school teachers and students with reading, writing and math skills.  Mentors go to Mantua Elementary, Canterbury Woods Elementary, Oakview Elementary, Olde Creeke Elementary, Little Run Elementary and Frost Middle School where they help students with homework and assignments.

Controversial Book Alliance

Purpose: To read and discuss challenging books that would not be taught in a public school setting. We discuss a wide range of contemporary topics ranging from politics to environmental issues, philosophy and society. Members must be willing to share ideas openly and love to read.

Crew

Meeting Times:  After school starting in November
Dues:  $340 per year + uniforms & fundraising obligation.  Transportation & away regattas are an additional cost to the student-athlete.
Criteria:  Students must pass athletic physical and swimming test.
Purpose:   To promote physical fitness, teamwork, and competition.  Student-athletes compete for varsity letters if placed on a varsity boat and meet coaching staff selection criteria.  Physical conditioning begins in November, and water training begins in late February. Racing season is from late February to the end of May and practice is each night after school at the boathouse on the Occoquan River.
